As I approach my graduation ceremony, I cannot help but remember how challenging studying can be.
I remember the times I felt overwhelmed, frustrated and I even doubted if I was going to be able to make it. However, during that time I developed a few strategies that helped me succeed at school while juggling work and my personal life.
If you feel you have lost your motivation, need fresh study ideas or you just simply want to study smarter?
Keep reading! I have got some excellent strategies that will help you ace your studies.
The Following Tips Will Help You Study Smarter and Get Amazing Results
Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
Before we even start I want to say good on you! It takes courage to work hard to build a life you really want to live. It’s much easier to sit around and complain all day than to take action.
Now, let’s get to work…
I am a big believer in the power of vision boards. It helps you manifest your desires and it’s a visual reminder of what you want.
Take the time to create a powerful vision board by finding images that represent your dreams. Find a place where you can see your vision board on a daily basis.
When you feel you don’t want to study and would rather spend the day watching Netflix or when you doubt why you are even enrolled in your course, take a look at your vision board and remind yourself why you are willing to grind and work hard. You have dreams baby! and only you can make them happen.
Create a Study Space that inspires you
According to the U.S Department of Education, students who are exposed to natural light recorded higher grades and improved performance. So, find a nice spot close to a window so you can get lots of light.
Invest in a comfortable chair and a nice desk. Find stationary pieces that suit your style and make your space beautiful and make sure you keep your desk organised.
The Power of 50 Minutes
Every time I felt stuck. I just said to myself “remember the power of 50 minutes”.
Research shows that the brain encodes information more effectively when you break down your study sessions into small chunks. Set the timer, put your phone away and get to work.
Don’t underestimate the power of what you can achieve within 50 minutes. Even if you are stuck, just sit down and watch what happens. You will be amazed at how much progress you can make by simply showing up and doing your best.
You’ll feel better afterwards so make sure once your 50 minutes is done, take a break! You can grab a healthy snack, work out or do some house work. Once your break is over, set your timer and repeat!
By exercising the power of 50 minutes you will realise that you studied, exercised and even completed some house chores and that’s what I call achieving balance!Don't underestimate what you can accomplish in 50 minutes Click To Tweet
Take Notes and Review Them
When you are reading your course materials, get in the habit of taking notes.
According to Matt Morris, the author of The Unemployed Millionaire, taking notes helps you retain information more effectively.
Matt Morris has practised the habit of taking notes while reading for more than 10 years! This has maximised his learning abilities and helped him to become an expert in his field.
Make sure you get into the habit of reviewing your notes to refresh what you have learnt.
Have Faith in Your Abilities
When you feel overwhelmed and frustrated, remember Henry Ford once said “There is no man living who isn’t capable of doing more than he thinks he can do”.
You are making progress and you are working towards your goal.
Even though it’s challenging, you can do it. The harder it is, the more satisfaction it will give you once it’s done.
You are making yourself proud and you are going after what you want. That alone shows the determined and disciplined person that you are!
There you have it. Put these tips into practice and you will see a positive shift in the way you study, your productivity and your life balance.
